In this blog post, I want to talk about a topic that I have recently thought about.
I think it’s something that we should chat about because I think it would really help a lot of people.
Why Introverts are Awesome
Where I got this idea
So I saw this great video by Amy Landino. She talked a lot about being an introvert, how it affects her and her work, and how she’s been able to manage it and use it to her advantage.
Now, I’m not an introvert, but my two best friends are both introverts. And I found that I actually really enjoy introverts.
What about introverts?
Now there’s a lot of talk about whether introverts are having their traits suppressed and whether they should be embraced (if you haven’t read Susan Cain’s Quiet, check it out)
But I’m here to say something that is important: If you’re an introvert I just wanted you to know you are awesome.
Actually, I think introverts are actually more fun to hang out than extroverts, personally.
And there’s a particular reason why.
Why I think introverts are awesome
Naturally, as an introvert, you gain energy and recharge from being by yourself. Conversely, you get drained by being around other people.
What that means is you basically choose to not spend a lot of energy when you’re around other people.
The benefit that introverts have
Now, believe it or not, this actually has a really great benefit that
I think everyone can learn.
And that is that introverts are amazing when it comes to listening.
Listening actually is a skill that is not really being talked about or used. But it’s really key to creating relationships and good connections between people.
So I think one of the beauties of being an introvert is that they are very good at listening and thinking about what they say. They don’t tend to blab on and overwhelm other people. They’re very careful with the words they choose.
The other trait introverts have
And that leads to a second great thing that introverts have: even though they don’t speak as often when they do speak, it’s like the whole world stops.
What this means is that their words carry so much more weight and so much more impact.
If you are an introvert, the most important thing to remember
is you are actually in a great spot.
The reason?
You have the ability to form real human connections and connect/relate to people. For extroverts or ambiverts, this is a little harder.
